Sharing Best Practices

We encourage teachers and school administrators to share best practices with each other and/or send us feedback on our initiative. We’d love to hear from you about the following: what aspects of the program were most successful; what did your students enjoy the best; how can we build upon our success?

Please send your comments and feedback to and list “Teacher Feedback” under the subject line and we will post it with your permission. Please note that we respect your privacy so we will not include your name. Instead we will list comments such as:

“Citizenship Counts is an incredible unique way to inspire my students’ pride in being American citizens and challenge them to engage in community service efforts.”
–High school principal in Houston, TX

“The student essay contest was wonderful as it generated excitement in my classroom as all of my students wanted to win and have the opportunity to read their essay at the naturalization ceremony.”
— 7th grade teacher in Scottsdale, AZ

“Citizenship Counts goes beyond the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.  The program also allows students to embrace the naturalization process.  Students delve into the immigrant experience of soon-to-be American citizens from the moment of aspiration to fulfillment.”
–7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher in Phoenix, AZ
